De Bergings- en Identificatiedienst van de Koninklijke Landmacht (BIDKL) heeft vandaag de Legion of Honor Appreciation Award ontvangen. Deze wordt jaarlijks uitgereikt door de non-profitorganisatie Four Chaplains Memorial Foundation Nederland. Commandant Landstrijdkrachten luitenant-generaal Jan Swillens overhandigde de BIDKL de prestigieuze Amerikaanse onderscheiding.

Met de groeiende dreigingen is het noodzakelijk dat Europese landen snel meer bijdragen aan geloofwaardige afschrikking en verdediging. Dat benadrukte minister Ruben Brekelmans vandaag in Warschau. Hij was daar met de andere defensieministers uit de Europese Unie voor de informele Raad Buitenlandse Zaken Defensie. De ministers bespraken er de steun aan Oekraïne. Ook het nieuwe zogeheten Witboek Gereedheid 2030 van de Europese Commissie kwam aan bod.

De NAVO door Nederland-tour strijkt de komende maanden neer in een aantal steden. Dat gebeurt in aanloop naar de NAVO-top op 24 en 25 juni in Den Haag. De organisatie wil met allerlei activiteiten over veiligheid en de NAVO het gesprek aangaan met publiek. Een onderdeel van dit rondreizende programma zijn de educatieve theatermakers De Kiesmannen. Vandaag waren ze in Boxmeer waar ze gesprekken voerden met jongeren van het ROC Nijmegen. Generaal-majoor Wilfred Rietdijk was te gast.

哈佛陈曾熙公共卫生学院的研究人员在《Nature Communications》期刊上发表研究报告，调查了美国最大的 34 家比特币矿场的耗电量及其环境影响。使用矿机挖比特币需要消耗大量电力，因此大部分矿场都建在靠近发电厂的地方。研究发现，从 2022 年中到 2023 年中，这 34 家矿场消耗了 32.3 太瓦时（terawatt-hours）的电力，比整个洛杉矶还要多 33%，其中 85% 的电力来自燃烧化石燃料的火电站。火电站释放出的 PM2.5 颗粒影响了周边 190 万居民，其中纽约市和休斯顿等四个地区的居民面临的健康风险最大。

It is recommended to upgrade the affected component.
